Let's build a healthy and sustainable ecosystem!

"When I realized this, I grabbed on to it like a life raft, and I haven’t let go. This is real. Your eyes reading this text, your hands, your breath, the time of day, the place where you are reading this—these things are real. I’m real too. I am not an avatar, a set of preferences, or some smooth cognitive force; I’m lumpy and porous, I’m an animal, I hurt sometimes, and I’m different one day to the next. I hear, see, and smell things in a world where others also hear, see, and smell me. And it takes a break to remember that: a break to do nothing, to just listen, to remember in the deepest sense what, when, and where we are."

Hola,
I want you to start this week with one of my favourite quotes. Odell's book "How to do nothing" helped me to understand living beyond just achievements and personal satisfaction. This book is an ode to conscious and respectful living, paying special attention to phenomena such as social media-imposed standards of perfection, the attention economy, capitalism and the environment. With intimate writing she builds a beautiful and powerful book.
Luckily, I read this book at the beginning of the year and what I didn't know is that this book set foundations for how to deal with this emotionally intense year.
Find here a list of things I found worth sharing from last week:
- Watch. David Attenborough's life testimony on Life on our planet (2020) (Available on German Netflix). Paraphrasing one of his lines in the film "It is not anymore about saving the world; it is about saving ourselves". Indeed, this film is a desperate call for everyone to reflect about the impact we are having on the world and how we can contribute to create a sustainable ecosystem. I can't agree more with what he preaches in the film.
- Listen. Next time you are looking for an interesting or pleasant musical experience give NTS radio a try. Here I find music covering the whole range of the mood spectrum.
- Brew.Brewed a Belgian style IPA. I hope it will be ready for New Year's eve. Fingers crossed 🤞. If I don't talk about it again, it's because it was a total failure...
- Express."The thing about any kind of harassment is that it takes things from you — things you never even knew you could give.". I like to think about gender equality as the most important war we are fighting in the 21st century. To Be A Woman In Pakistan is fierce essay from Raniya Hosain, who won this years' Zeenat Haroon Rashid Writing Prize for Women. Thank you.
- Aww♥️. Found this beautiful expression of motherhood.
Thanks for reading and have a nice week!
