Is thinking from gene's perspective enough? No. To some extent.

Diego Mosquera. 21st of December 2020.

"Human beings are ultimately nothing but carriers – passageways – for genes. They ride us into the ground like racehorses from generation to generation. Genes don’t think about what constitutes good or evil. They don’t care whether we are happy or unhappy. We’re just a means to an end for them. The only thing they think about is what is most efficient for them."

Hola,

After focusing on the environment, humans as a part of the world's ecosystem and the threat of neoliberalism, I happened to find this quote from my favourite book 1Q84. I don't agree at all with Aomame. Our genes are already sensitive to sadness, happiness, good or evil, from a mere survival perspective though. That explains she turns out to have such bad luck in the book... If we need something in this world that would be empathy, we are not here to survive from a parallel world with two moons... wait.. what?! (Just read it I love this trilogy).

Find here a list of things I found worth sharing from last week:

  1. Patronise.Because sometimes you can't keep yourself from stopping harmful practices. Read and practice this. Deadnaming is real.
  2. Argue. Our internet consumption contributes to 3,7 % of greenhouse emissions.
  3. Read. Bloomberg's jealousy list is great! I enjoyed reading this hiking story!
  4. Listen. Turns out this is my nephew's playlist. (he is 11 years old).
  5. Give a chance.I'm open to some ideas. For sure, every time it comes to stoicism, I avoid the topic as I can only relate this to content talking about insanely rich people. I gave a try to this podcast's episode this week. It was very interesting. I think this can be useful for some. However, I think it fell short when answering if stoicism isn't re-victimizing practicers; and that's wrong for me. Also, WTF Stoicism and stoicism....
  6. Aww♥️. Waiting for these days like this!

Thanks for reading and have a nice week!
