Emptiness of space

Diego Mosquera. 15th of February 2021.

"The emptiness of space allows it to contain things. The fact that thoughts can come crowding into our mind at will must mean that ‘mind’ is actually an empty space too. If someone were really in residence there, it would surely not be invaded by all these thoughts."
Kenko; Chomei. Essays in Idleness (Penguin Classics) (S.133). Penguin Books Ltd. Kindle-Version.

Hola,

At some point, deep in depression, I insisted on facing my loneliness and building a strong will to overcome an apparent fear to a lack of self-affection. I wanted to be able to feel comfortable without any external distraction. As a result, I added several hours of desperate crying and hopeless thoughts to my life. Contrary to my friends, family and therapist offerings of company and support; I kept insisting on dealing with it by myself. It was there when I found in meditation a way to get the strength to deal with my anxious thoughts.

When I revisit these days, I don't recommend this decision of finding yourself while your mind is dealing with depression. I can't let my stubbornness again to keep insisting on what I think "I should do" rather than listening to the people around me who care for me.

If you are ever in this situation, make sure that I'm here to listen and support you. These moments are impossible to predict, but if I have learnt something from it, is that anchoring yourself to people who care for you is the best way to navigate the storm.

Find here a list of things I found worth sharing from last week:

  1. Read. The Chachapoya people, seem to be the first cool ones who decided to abolish hierarchies. Read this interesting article about ancient Peruvian cloud warriors.
  2. RIP. to jazz legend Chick Corea. I went to bed late last Saturday while listening to his music.
  3. Laugh. while reading to accurate definitions of corporate jargon.
  4. Remember. when your tinder dates where at bars rather than a boring socially distant walk date.
  5. Aww♥️. Start your week with a blast of sweetness! By the way, I saw plenty of people recreating the video of my little friends this weekend. Thanks Annika for the meme!

Thanks for reading and have a nice week!
